HYDERABAD, June 22: Tail-end growers of the Kandhar Shakh, Bulri Shah Kari taluka, Tando Mohammad Khan district, have accused a retired officer of a law-enforcement agency of depriving them of their share of water.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Wednesday, Bashir Ahmad Shah, Mohammad Umer Abbasi, Khamiso Khan Magsi, Niaz Hussain Lund, Allahdino Jatt and Abu Bakar Magsi said thousands of acres of land had been rendered barren due to non-supply of water.

They appealed to the president, Sindh governor and the chief minister to hold an inquiry into the matter and remove police from RD-13 of the branch.

Growers said if water supply was not restored to their lands, they would stage a protest march from the Hyderabad Press Club to the office of the chief engineer of the Kotri Barrage on June 27.

Bakhshal Magsi threatened to commit self-immolation on June 25 in Kotri on the occasion of the visit of the chief minister.
