PESHAWAR, June 21: Three people were killed when two groups opened fire on each other on the Ring Road in the Pishtakhara locality on Tuesday morning, police officials said. The residents of the area told Dawn that Zewar Khan alias Jani and his cousin Gul Akbar had a dispute with their relatives Nasir and Wasil, sons of Raza Khan, over a six-marla commercial plot on the Ring Road.

They said that Zewar Khan married the daughter of his maternal uncle Gulzada and laid a claim on the commercial plot, which is presently occupied by Gulzada’s nephews, Nasir and Wasil.

They said that on Tuesday Zewar and his cousin Gul went to the plot where construction work had been started by Nasir and Wasil and opened fire. The latter retaliated. Zewar, Gul and Nasir were hit by bullets and died on the spot while Gulzada and Wasil were injured.

Both the injured have been admitted to the Lady Reading Hospital.

A police official said that policemen had been deputed at the hospital and were keeping a close watch on both.

PROTEST: Residents of Asia Gate in the walled city held a protest demonstration on Tuesday against unscheduled load-shedding.

The protesters chanted slogans against the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) and demanded that load-shedding be stopped immediately which was making it unbearable to face the extremely hot weather.
