LARKANA, June 20: People of different villages of the union council Waris Dino Machi of Ratodero held a demonstration outside the district council hall here on Monday against Hesco officials for disconnecting power supply to 140 villages. The District Nazim Larkana, Khursheed Ahmed Junejo, came out of the budget session and met the demonstrators. He assured the protesting villagers of early restoration of power supply to the villages. Later, the villagers also demonstrated outside the Hesco office and raised slogans against its officials.
Talking to this correspondent, Ghaus Bakhsh Chandio, Nazim of the Union Council Waris Dino Machi, said there was no electricity to 150 villages for three days due to closure of feeder-II originating from Ratodero.
The villages included Ali Baig Kodrani, Kamal Khan Chandio, Sanhara Machi, Wada and Nandha Bossan, Wasayo Bhutto, Punhoon Bhatti, Sono Brohi, Baqo Khan Khoso, Dilawar Machi, Basaruddain Khoso, Pir Bakhsh Brohi and Maivo Ghanghro.
The row began after a clash between the villagers and Hesco staff to remove the transformer on non-payment of electricity bills.
The Hesco officials had later registered an FIR against 18 people on the charges of interruption into the duty with the Waris Dino Machi police station.
PROTEST: Employees of the population welfare department demonstrated outside the district council hall and local press club urging the Sindh government to reinstate the 16 sacked employees of the department.
Speaking on the occasion, All Pakistan Clerks Association president Peeral Dayo and others alleged that the 16 workers had been sacked to please Shirazis of Thatta.
