No clue to missing police officer

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar police on Saturday said they were in contact with their counterparts in the federal capital to trace the whereabouts of the missing senior official of the city police.

Media reports said SP rural circle Tahir Khan Dawar was kidnapped in Islamabad.

A statement issued here quoted city police chief Qazi Jamilur Rehman as saying that Mr Dawar was on a short leave and had gone to Islamabad on some personal business. The city police were unable to contact the officer on his cellular phone. However, it would be premature to say something about his disappearance at this stage.

“We are in contact with the Islamabad police to ascertain the facts,” the statement said.

Mr Dawar, who hails from North Waziristan tribal district, was given the charge of the city’s rural circle in August.
