RAWALPINDI, Jan 10: Hundreds of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers and supporters took out a rally here on Thursday against Indian war hysteria.

The “defence of Pakistan” rally commenced from Liaquat Road and culminated at Bani Chowk after marching through various roads.

The participants were riding on motorcycles, Suzuki vans, rickshaws and other vehicles while some were on foot.

The local PPP leaders while speaking to the participants, held the military rulers responsible for the prevailing tension on borders and socio-economic crises in the country.

“The prevailing crises are the result of the present rulers’ wrong policies”, they said, adding “the only solution to the crises rest in bringing Benazir Bhutto back and transferring power to the elected people.”

The PPP leaders said that Benazir gifted the nation with Ghori Missile during her tenure and made the defence of the country impregnable.

They demanded of the government to stop victimization of politicians and form an interim national government which would hold elections and install a democratic government in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP leader Agha Riazul Islam said that the party had always played its leading role whenever the country was faced with crises.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Sultan Mehmood Qazi, Chaudhry Muhammad Younas, Shehbaz Janjua and Rashid Mir.
