Homeopath fined for quackery

LAHORE: A Rs200,000 fine was imposed on a homoeopathic doctor for quackery by a Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) team, a spokesperson for the PHC said on Wednesday.

Gohar Sufiyan stated in a complaint submitted to the PHC that he got treated his six-month-old son Hussain Gohar from Arshad Medical Centre in Faisalabad for an eye ailment. Homoeopathic doctor Muhammad Arshad gave four different eye drops which adversely affected the eyes and the minor son was operated upon at the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad.

A PHC team reported the homeopathic medic had stocks of allopathic medicines.

The centre was sealed and the case sent to the National Council for Homoeopathy for action.
