ISLAMABAD: Over 3,000 police officials will perform security duty during the by-election in NA-53 Islamabad on Oct 14.
Besides, personnel from the army and paramilitary troops, including Rangers, will be on security duty, including at the polling stations. Five companies of the Rangers were on Friday deployed in the city by the Ministry of Interior on the request of the local administration.
Prime Minister Imran Khan won the National Assembly seat and later vacated it.
There are 315 polling stations in the constituency out of which six have been declared extremely sensitive and 30 sensitive.
A team, comprising seven police personnel, will be deployed at each of the extremely sensitive station. Four of the extremely sensitive polling stations are in the Aabpara police and two in the Industrial Area police limits.
A team of six police officials will perform duty at each of the sensitive polling station while the normal polling stations will be guarded by five policemen each.
The security plan was prepared by SSP Syed Mohammad Amin Bukhari after meetings with all the stakeholders.
The constituency has been divided into four zones, comprising six sectors and nine sub-sectors. Every zone will be supervised by a superintendent of police while sectors and sub-sectors will be headed by subdivisional police officers and station house officers, receptively.
The main control room has been set up at Safe City Project office while three wireless control rooms have also been established. The Quick Response Force (QRF) will also performsecurityduty.
As perthe securityplan, four SPs, six ASPs/DSPs and nine inspectors along with their subordinate staff will monitorthe securityarrangements from outside the polling stations.
Patrolling will be conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Force and policemen on motorbikes. Additional police personnel will remain on a standby in the Aabpara police station to deal with any untoward situation.
Parking areas will be established away from the polling stations as per instructions of the Election Commission of Pakistan, the officials added.
