PESHAWAR, June 15: Police on Wednesday arrested the main accused who had allegedly raped a teenage girl at gunpoint at her home in the Notia locality. The Bhanamari police station registered an FIR under section 5, 10 Offence of Zina (Enforcement of Hudood) Ordinance, 1979, Section 354-A and Section 452 of the Pakistan Penal Code against the accused, Waqas, son of Mohammad Anwar, a resident of Karimpura, and his two accomplices.
The 14-year-old victim, who had been brought for medical examination at the forensic laboratory of the Khyber Medical College, told Dawn that she was a student of seventh class and harassed by the accused about a week ago.
The girl’s father said that the 20-year-old accused, who is a motor mechanic and a distant relative, had seen the victim first at a wedding in January.
“A few weeks ago, he started sending letters in which he threatened her of dire consequences if she did not meet him,” the girl’s parents said.
On June 13, the accused entered the house of the victim at night when the inmates were fast asleep. The ensuing commotion awakened the patents.
“We found two men training their guns at us while Waqas dragged the victim to the next room,” they said.
