SUKKUR, June 15: Kandhra police, after five hours of hectic effort, managed to lower the body of a Hesco lineman, Allah Warrayo Khaskheli, who was electrocuted while working on a high-tension electric pole. On the complaint of Sikandar, brother of the deceased, police registered a case against Hesco executive engineer Zaheeruddin Shaikh, line superintendent Amanullah Mirani and a driver. Sikandar had stated that the accused asked his brother to repair a high-tension line, assuring him that power had been suspended.
However, when Allah Warrayo climbed the pole, he was electrocuted immediately, he said, adding that the accused line superintendent and the driver fled away while his brother’s body remained hanging from the pole.
Later, relatives of the deceased along with other people placed the body on the Kandhra-Khairpur road and blocked it for four hours, stranding traffic at both ends.
They claimed that the accused had assured the deceased that power had been switched off; however, on climbing the pole, he was electrocuted immediately.
Hesco officials, giving a lame excuse, said that the deceased worked on daily wages and was not a regular employee of the company.
