SIALKOT, June 15: Despite a passage of two years, the education department has not appointed teachers for the post-graduate classes at the Government College for Women, Daska. It is learnt that the provincial and district governments had approved masters classes in Islamyat, Urdu and English at the college about two years back to meet the growing higher education needs of students.

Because of non-appointment of the required teaching staff, the students desirous of acquiring higher education have been facing difficulties.

As many as 30 teachers are required to start the masters classes at the college, but the authorities concerned have yet not sanctioned the required seats.

Although, the college management has arranged some honorary teachers for these classes, they are not enough for the growing number of students.

The college has been facing an acute shortage of teaching staff since long but no attention was paid to the situation.

There are no home economics and psychology laboratories at the college, which even lacks a proper staff room. The sewerage and water supply systems of the college have almost collapsed.

Concerned quarters have urged the Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and District Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid to order effective measures to solve the longstanding problems being faced by the college on priority basis.
