Minor dies of ‘wrong’ injection

SAHIWAL: A 15-month-old minor boy died after he was allegedly administered a wrong injection here on Monday at a private children hospital in Hurmat Colony, Chichawatni.After the death, the family allegedly ransacked the furniture and damaged medical equipment.

Reports said Muhammad Younas, a resident of Babu Town, brought his son Abdullah to Shahid Rasool Children Clinic for treatment for fever and cough.

The hospital staff administered an injection to the child after which his condition deteriorated. Parents and hospital staff later called [owner] Dr. Shahid Rasool, who is working as Chichawatni THQ Hospital medical superintendent.

Younas told the media that the staff asked him to take the boy to THQ hospital and his son died on way to hospital.

After the incident, the family members ransacked the furniture, broke windowpanes and damaged medical apparatus. City police closed the hospital and and arrested a staffer, Pasheen.

Parents have demanded that the Punjab Healthcare Commission investigate the matter.
