MARDAN, June 14: People have condemned cantonment officials for illegally renting out space along the road, except for The Mall, in the area to vendors and pushcart owners. A group of cantonment residents, led by Pir Azam, told this reporter that residing in cantonment was a curse because both the officials and lower staff of the cantonment had rented out all the available space to the vendors and pushcart owners for over Rs8,000 per month.

Mr Azam claimed that the officials and lower staff were encouraging the vendors and pushcart owners to occupy the space.
