NAB to launch probes against two former ministers

ISLAMABAD: The National Accoun­tability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday decided to initiate inquiries against former federal ministers Hanif Abbasi and Ejaz Jakhrani for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices.

In its executive board meeting, NAB decided to conduct 17 fresh inquiries against former ministers Hanif Abbasi and Ejaz Jakhrani; vice chairman of Sports Board, Punjab, Syed Tanveer-ul-Hassan Gilani; former minister Arif Ibrahim; senior joint secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Co­ordi­­na­tion, Zia-ur-Rehman; Commi­ssioner Afghan Refugees, officials of National Police Foundation; officials of National TB Programme, Ministry of Health, Islamabad; officers of Informa­tion Department, government of Sindh; officers of the Karachi Development Authority; officers of University of Swat; officials of Tourism Corporation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; officers of Pak-Austria Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, Haripur, Khyber Pakhtun­khwa; Jan Mohammad Jamali, former speaker the Balochistan Assembly; and Jam Ghulam Qadir Dharejo, former commissioner, Sukkur.

NAB in a press release did not elaborate on the details of cases and announced “the details of the investigations would be conveyed as per directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan”.
