Karak to have petroleum technology training institute

KARAK: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Oil and Gas Company Limited (KPOGCL) will establish a training institute in Karak with a cost of Rs2 billion to train local youths in petroleum technology, claims Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F MPA Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel.

Talking to mediapersons here on Sunday, he said he had talked to the chief executive KPOGCL Raziuddin in that regard and that the company had already approved a handsome amount of Rs2 billion for the project.

He said the training centre would be established at a suitable place, adding it would provide an opportunity to the youths to learn skills in the field of petroleum technology and get employment.

Mr Gul said a number of oil and gas reserves had been found on the soil of Karak and more exploration work was underway and such like institutes were necessary to prepare the youths to get good jobs in the oil and gas field.

He resolved to extend all out support to the company for early completion of the project, and said it would prove a milestone in development of the district.

He said he would welcome the other oil and gas companies working in district Karak to contribute to the development of the district.

AFORESTATION CAMPAIGN: A tree plantation drive was launched in Latamber area under the aegis of Sheen Zarghoon movement on Sunday.

About 1,000 saplings of different species were planted in Latamber, Kamali Banda, Sharifwala and other localities.

Sub-divisional forest officer Jamsher Khan along with activists of the movement was present on the occasion.

Pioneer of the movement, Hidaytullah Khattak informed the reporters that they had planted thousands of trees in different parts of the district as part of the aforestation scheme.

He appreciated the cooperation of the forest department in that regard and claimed that their sole aim was to make the district lush green by planting more and more trees.

He added they had mobilised the youths for the cause of plantation and said the youngsters were interested in realising the dream of making the district green.
