ISLAMABAD, Jan 9: The officials of the International Assistance Security Force, the UN officials and the representatives of the Afghan interim administration would hold the first joint meeting on security issues on Thursday, UN officials said here on Wednesday.

Speaking at a news conference, UN Information Centre director, Eric Falt, said the UN special representative for Afghanistan, Lakhdar Brahimi met the Commander of the International Security Assistance Force, General John McColl, to discuss the security situation.

According to the UN officials, the security for delivery of humanitarian assistance and relief convoys is of prime concern to the UN. Reports about looting of convoys by rival warlords is a cause for grave concern. Possibility of providing security cover to relief agencies and the UN convoys by the International Assistance Force is on the agenda of the meeting, the sources said.
