JAN Nisar Khan ... shining in US cricket circuit.

KARACHI: Pakistan’s former first-class cricketer Jan Nisar Khan is hoping to play in the Pakistan Super League next year after he was picked for the USA cricket squad for the ICC Americas’ sub regional qualifier, which will take place in Raleigh, North Carolina next month.

The final US squad was selected following the talent identification drive across the United States. A group of 39 players were invited to a selection camp in Houston.

All-rounder Jan Nisar, 36, played 68 first-class games in Pakistan scoring 2213 runs and capturing 98 wickets before moving to the US about four years ago. He currently represents Smartchoice Sports Club in Houston.

Obviously ecstatic at his selection, Jan Nisar told this correspondent from Houston that he has been striving to make a name for himself. “Ever since I came to the USA, I have been playing cricket in various leagues across the country. I am thankful to my mentor Sakhi Muhammad who continuously encouraged me,” Jan Nisar said.

“I want to perform for the USA national team in the upcoming assignments and later of course look forward to feature in the Pakistan Super League next year besides in T20 leagues around the world,” he said.
