PML-N activists in PK-23 asked to start poll campaign

SHANGLA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz provincial president Amir Muqam has asked the workers to start campaign for victory of party candidate in re-polling in PK-23 Shangla, which would be held on Sept 10.

He was addressing a party meeting here at Alpuri on Saturday. Newly-elected MNA Ibadullah, candidate for PK-23 Mohammad Rashad and other party leaders also spoke at the meeting attended by party workers.

Mr Muqam alleged that the July 25 elections were rigged and claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf would not be able to run the government in the centre for more than six months.

He urged his party workers to start door-to-door campaign for success of Mr Rashad in the upcoming re-election.

He said that he was making efforts for electoral alliance with opposition parties in PK-23, adding that some of opposition parties had given him a green signal in this regard.

Mr Ibadullah claimed on the occasion that he would work for development of Shangla. Mr Rashad said that July 25 election in PK-23 was declared null and void over low turnout of women.

ROADS BLOCKED:Heavy rain lashed most parts of Shangla while some roads were blocked due flooding of streams and landslides.

The rain started late on Friday night and continued for about four hours, triggering flood in the streams. Boulders and mud blocked the local roads for hours due to which motorists faced hardship. Power supply was also suspended in Bisham city due to heavy rain.
