KARACHI, June 7: Former International hurdler, Muhammad Talib, has asked young athletes to take advantage of free coaching under the guidance of experts and enhance their endurance and skills. “Athletics is the mother of sports and plays a vital role in physical fitness of an individual,” he told a select gathering of over 100 boys and girls belonging to different educational institutions who assembled for training at the opening of month long 29th summer camp of Athletics Fitness School (AFS) at the Hockey Club of Pakistan stadium on Monday.
Recalling the institution’s contribution he said the AFS had so far trained 3650 athletes including women, since its coming into being in 1977.
Talib said he was proud that a number of athletes who have trained at the AFS went on to represent the country and also became national champions.
The veteran athlete advised the trainees to work hard and follow the footsteps of their seniors if they want to excel in sports.
Former athletes Abid Hussain, Noorul Hasan, Mehboob Dawood, Shah Naeem Zafar and Naeem Gul were among others, who attended the opening of the camp.
