KHAIRPUR, June 7: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that the government is giving top priority to health, education and focusing on provision of basic facilities to people in rural and urban areas without any discrimination. He said a number of development schemes had been initiated by the government to facilitate the people.

Speaking at inaugural ceremony of the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences and Child Healthcare on Tuesday, the governor said the world was moving fast and every one of us had to give his input in shape of hard work and we could compete in every sphere of life with sincerity.

He said his prime motto was to serve the people at every nook and corner of Sindh with sincerity and owing to his efforts a visible change was being witnessed.

The governor stressed the need for establishing a trauma centre in Gambat and announced a grant of Rs10 million to start a medical science institute while the federal government had sanctioned Rs600 million for the institute.

He announced a drainage scheme for Gambat, engineering college for Khairpur, two ambulances and improvement and upgradation of the Khairpur civil hospital.

Earlier, the medical superintendent of the Gambat taluka hospital, Dr Rahim Bux Bhatti, gave a detailed briefing about the institute.

He said so far 12 units had been established in the institute.

The governor visited digital library and telemedicine centre at the Gambat hospital.

District Nazim Nafisa Shah lauded efforts of the Sindh governor for taking keen interest in visualizing and materializing the mega project of the institute as he had announced the project during his previous visit and now he was inaugurating the same scheme.

She called upon the governor to recommend the name of Dr Bhatti for Tamgha-i-Imtiaz in recognition of his services in the health sector.

She also demanded construction of Khairpur-Larkana bridge over the River Indus to link the Indus Highway with the National Highway and to serve the interest of people of the area.

Our Sukkur Correspondent adds: Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibbad has said that a committee has been formed to nominate administrators in place of nazims before the local bodies elections.

Talking to newsmen after inaugurating the Child Health Care Centre at Gambat on Tuesday morning, he said that these administrators would comprise the government officials. He said there was no plan to appoint political administrators in the districts and the decision in this regard would be taken within a week’s time.

He said that there was no water crisis in Sindh as the flow of water into the rivers had increased due to high ratio of rains.

Even then the tail-end growers do not get their share of water, then it was nothing but mismanagement in the distribution system. On a question he said that the Sindh government would definitely look into the proposals to construct a bridge from Agra to Larkana.

He said that he would ask the planners to re-examine the project and send a fresh feasibility report to him so that he could seek federal government’s help in this regard.
