DRO disposes of polling complaints

ISLAMABAD: A few complaints were received at the district returning officer’s (DRO) office which were disposed of instantly.

According to an official of the DRO office, the PPP filed two complaints that were disposed of after explanations were sought from the concerned officials.

A complaint was lodged against the Nilor SHO regarding the removal of PPP camp in front of Tumair polling station in NA-52.

The DRO, District and Sessions Judge Sohail Nasir, sought an explanation from the SHO who said the camp had been facing a PTI camp, leading to apprehensions regarding a clash between charged members of both parties. The PPP camp was therefore relocated as a precaution. The complaint was disposed of after the verification of facts.

Local PPP leader Nawaz Khokar also complained that the presiding officer of the polling station, Mughal Mohammad Farooq, was a supporter of PTI’s NA-53 candidate Raja Khurram Nawaz and had taken photographs with Mr Nawaz at his polling station.

When the DRO sought photographs in question it emerged that the photos were old and had been taken elsewhere, and the complaint was dismissed accordingly.
