The election commission secretariat has forwarded the matter regarding Imran Khan's vote being wasted to the chief election commissioner for consideration after which a notice will be sent to Imran Khan.

A video taken of the PTI-chief casting his vote has also been sent to the ECP.

According to section 185 (failure to maintain secrecy) of the Election Act, 2017, the punishment for failing to maintain secrecy is 6 months jail time and a fine of Rs1,000.

Meanwhile, the PTI has issued a response saying that the party chief has not violated any election rules and has urged the ECP to take notice of the news circulating in this regard and present true facts to the public.

"Taking notice against a particular party's leader may present an unbalanced view and compromise the elections," the party has said.

It criticised the ECP for not doing it's duty to curtail the spread of unverified media reports.
