The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has taken notice of election-related programmes running on different television channels and has directed them to stop airing such content and discussions.

According to the ECP, TV channels were airing recorded footage of public gatherings, addresses of political parties and candidates made till July 23. Pemra explained that as per ECP directives, “election campaigns or propagation of political parties/candidates should be stopped forthwith”.

"Repeat telecast in the garb of reporting of political gatherings, public addresses of political party’s leadership, statements/comments by any political leader or party representative in any talk show or road show should also be stopped." — Pemra
