LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Tuesday took notice of allotment of land owned by Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to petrol pumps at throwaway prices and issued notices to all stakeholders for July 26.
CJP Nisar took the notice on an application moved by Abdullah Malik stating that the land was allotted at throwaway prices illegally that needed proper investigation.
The chief justice directed LDA Director General Amina Imran Khan to submit a report by the next hearing. He also sought record of petitions pertaining to disputed petrol pumps pending before the Lahore High Court.
A committee constituted to resolve the issue had also been directed to be present in the court on next hearing.
The chief justice also summoned owners/proprietors or the management of the disputed petrol pumps.
JOURNALIST’S MURDER: The Supreme Court set a 15-day deadline for the Sialkot police to arrest the prime suspect involved in the murder of a journalist of Sambrial.
The Sialkot DPO told the court that a police team had been dispatched to Dubai for the arrest of co-suspect Saqib who allegedly harboured prime suspect Imran Aslam Cheema, chairman of a union council. He said more time was required for the arrest of Cheema who was also in Dubai.
The court adjourned the hearing and directed the police to submit progress report after 15 days.
Zeeshan Butt of a daily urdu was allegedly shot dead by Cheema.
