Niazi excels in U-16 cricket

KARACHI: All-rounder Abdul Rehman Niazi stole the limelight as Moin Khan Cricket Academy (MKCA) beat UBL Academy by 21 runs in their Inter-academies Under-16 Cricket League fixture at the UBL Sports Complex here the other day.

Niazi made a steady undefeated 45 off 63 balls with three boundaries and then grabbed three wickets for 21 runs in six overs, while also accounting for a run out to show his domination in the match.

Put into bat, MKCA posted 174 for eight in the allotted 30 overs. Besides Rehman Niazi, Owais Karni hoisted three sixes and two fours in a 16-ball cameo of 32.

Slow left arm spinner Saif Yamin grabbed three wickets for 17 runs in his six overs, while paceman Mohammad Fahad took 3-23.

UBL Academy, in reply, were bowled out for 159 in 29 overs. Adeel Meo top-scored with 36 off 33 balls with five hits to the boundary. Opener Saad Malik cracked 23 from 16 balls while striking five fours.Off-spinner Onaib Obaid took two wickets for 21 runs.
