ANP resumes poll activities in Bajaur

KHAR: Awami National Party, Bajaur chapter, on Sunday resumed its election campaign after remaining suspended for three days to mourn the deaths caused by a suicide blast in Peshawar that also killed a senior party leader and poll candidate, Haroon Bilour.

Shah Naseer Khan, the information secretary of ANP for Bajaur tribal district, told Dawn on Sunday that his party had recommenced its election activities with zeal in NA-40 and NA-41.

Though the election campaigns for both the party nominees, he said resumed on Saturday evening, full-fledged activities started on Sunday with holding of several corner meetings in different parts of the district.

He said the corner meetings of candidates -- Gul Afzal Khan and Malik Gul Zada -- were attended by party workers and general public in large number.

According to him, the incidents like the Peshawar blast could not dent the enthusiasm of ANP workers. He said that ANP was the only party whose workers and leaders were the victims of terrorism, but they stuck to non-violence philosophy of Bacha Khan to bring peace and prosperity in the region.

He said that all workers and leaders were on same page to win both the NA seats in the region.

Naseer Khan claimed that position of ANP candidates in both the constituencies was improving after thousands of people had joined the party during last two months.
