Is the jeep being taken for a ride?

Chaudhry Nisar is one of the many who have managed to secure the election symbol of jeep. In the past, there have been others who managed to secure signs some thought might prove to be lucky enough to see them through an election.

But with entire parties with aspirations similar to theirs, perhaps, as Asha’ar Rehman writes, candidates who may think they have a winning symbol still need to campaign actively and prove their relevance and worth to voters.

They should rather campaign today than realise later that they have been taken for a ride and assigned importance that, maybe, they didn't actually deserve

There is no assurance that the jeep or the chand [crescent and star] or the ghara [clay pot] will not be forgotten midway, with bigger entities clashing hard and taking over totally in the last lunge towards the finish line.
