PESHAWAR, June 1: The Gandhara Hindko Board, a literary-cum-cultural organization, on Tuesday paid homage to those 10 people who were killed when the British soldiers opened fire on peaceful citizens of Peshawar at Bazar-i-Kalan on May 31, 1930. A delegation of the board, led by its senior vice-chairman Ismail Awan, visited the monument erected in the memory of those who had fallen victim to the firing, laid a wreath there and offered fateha for them.

In a speech on the occasion, Mr Awan said the people of Peshawar were proud of the sacrifice offered by their ancestors on May 31, 1930, which was for the glory of Islam.—PPI
