SUKKUR: Pakistan Peoples Party’s candidate Mir Shabbir Bijarani, a former member of the National Assembly and son of PPP’s senior leader late Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, has been declared winner unopposed on the Sindh Assembly’s constituency PS-6 (Tangwani) in Kandhkot-Kashmore district, according to a notification issued on Friday.
Returning Officer Attaullah Mahar rejected nomination papers filed for the constituency by two leaders of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Abdul Qayyum Halejvi and Qari Kifayatullah Khoso, after the former did not declare his assets and the latter did not declare his salary drawn from a madressah.
The appellant tribal in Sukkur has also rejected the appeals of the two JUI-F leaders against the returning officer’s decision.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s nominees for the constituency, Basran and Munir Khoso, respectively, had already withdrawn their nomination papers in favour of Mr Bijarani.
Mr Bijarani is the first candidate in the country who has been declared winner in the general elections 2018.
It may be worth mentioned that Mr Bijarani while speaking at a press conference a few days ago had claimed that he would be the first to be declared winner unopposed in the election.
In the 2013 general elections, Mr Bijarani won National Assembly constituency NA-209 (Kashmore).
