Boy, 5, killed after criminal assault

JACOBABAD, May 30: The body of a boy, who had been missing for five days, was found from a graveyard here on Monday. He was strangulated after having been criminally assaulted. Reports said the boy, Hamid Ali, son of Nawab Ali, aged 5, was kidnapped on May 24 from the city area. During investigation, the boy’s father suspected involvement of another boy, Waqas, in the matter.

Police arrested Waqas, 17, who confessed during interrogation that he had killed Hammad.

He told police that he had kidnapped Hammad and taken him to a graveyard and criminally assaulted him. When Hammad told him that he would tell his father about the incident, the accused strangulated him to death and buried the body near the city graveyard.

The police, along with the deceased’s father and citizens recovered the body and shifted it to the civil hospital for post-mortem.

The duty doctor told Dawn that parts of the body were missing.

The TPO city, Khuda Bux Panhwar, confirmed the incident and said that deceased’s father Nawab Ali Shah has lodged an FIR against Waqas alias Vicky Qureshi under section 305/3, 302 with the city police.
