HYDERABAD, May 30: Employees of the PTCL continued their tool-down strike at almost all district headquarters of interior of Sindh for the fifth day on Monday. The employees are protesting against the proposed privatization of the company and non-acceptance of their charter of demands. An action committee of all PTCL unions has given the call for the strike.
The employees held separate meetings at telephone exchanges and telegraph offices as reports indicated a deadlock in negotiations between the PTCL management and the action committee in Islamabad.
Action committee leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan said the employees continued their strike at all PTCL offices of lower and upper Sindh while no fruitful results had come out of talks between the action committee and the company management.
DADU: A complete strike was observed at telephone exchanges of the Dadu district.
The employees boycotted their office work.
KHAIRPUR: PTCL employees continued their strike here.
Police have been deployed at telephone exchanges in Khairpur, Pir Jo Goth, Ranipur, Setharja, Pakka Chang, Thari Mirwah and other towns.
NAWABSHAH: Subscribers and customers of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, Nawabshah telegraph division, faced hardships because of strike of employees on the call of union’s action committee on Monday.
PTCL employees continued their strike against the privatization of company and all 45 exchanges of the division and other offices remained closed.
Union activists Syed Noori Shah, Ghulam Hyder Soomro and Mukhtiar Ahmed observed a token strike.
