Most PPP poll nominees for KP newcomers

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan People’s Party hasn’t fielded any candidate in 13 national and provincial assembly constituencies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the party named candidates for 35 of the 39 National Assembly constituencies and for 90 of the 99 constituencies.

Most of them joined the party recently.

The PPP got no application for National Assembly election tickets in Buner, Abbottabad-II, Tank and South Waziristan, while no one applied with it for the provincial assembly ticket in Batagram-28, Batagram-29, Abbottabad-38-III, Abbottabad-39-IV, Haripur -42-III, Bannu-90-IV, Lakki Marwat -91-1, Tank-94 and Dera Ismail Khan-98-IV. Eight provincial PPP office-bearers are contesting the 2018 elections.

Former provincial minister of the PTI Ziaullah Afridi, who recently joined the PPP, will contest elections from NA-31 Peshawar and PK-76, Ghazanfar Ali from NA-29 and PK-70 Peshawar, Sheheryar Amirzeb from NA-3 and PK-5 Swat, Najamuddin Khan from NA-5 and PK-12 Upper Dir, Khawaja Mohammad Khan Hoti from NA-20 and PK-50 Mardan, Shuja Khan from NA-14 and PK-32 Mansehra, Sardar Mumtaz Manzoor Abbasi from NA-15 and PK-36 Abbottabad, Dr Ulfat Hussain from NA-33 and PK-83 Hangu, and Akhunzada Chattan from two seats of NA-40 and NA-41 Bajaur.

Party names five women for general seats

The party has awarded tickets to five women candidates on general seats. They include Khaista, widow of former provincial assembly speaker Abdul Akbar Khan for PK-49-Mardan-II, Mehar Sultana for PK-88 Bannu-II, Shaistan Naz for NA-17 Haripur, Asma Arbab Alamgir for NA-27 Peshawar-I and Syeda Yasmeen Safdar for NA-35 Bannu.

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will contest the election from NA-8 Malakand, Saleem Khan NA-1 (Chitral-I).

The NA-2 Swat-I ticket has been awarded to Mehboobur Rehman, NA-4 Swat-III’s to Qamar Zaman Khan, NA-5 Upper Dir’s Najamuddin Khan, NA-6 Lower Dir-I’s Ahmed Hassan, NA-7 Lower Dir-II’s Syed Shahid Jan, NA-10 Shangla’s to Engineer Hamid Iqbal Khan, NA-11 Kohistan-Lower Kohistan-Kolai Pallas Kohistan’s to Saif ul Malook, NA-12 Battagram’s to Sardar Malik Jan, NA-13 Mansehra-I’s to Ahmed Hussain Shah and NA-14 Mansehra-Torghar-II’s to Shujah Khan .

The PPP ticket for the NA-17 Haripur has been awarded to Shaesta Naz, NA-18 Swabi-I to Gohar Inqalabi, NA-19 Swabi-II to Naeem Khan , NA-21 Mardan-II to Iftikhar Ahmed Farooq, NA-22 Mardan-III to Shoaib Alam Khan, NA-23 Charsadda-I to Manzoor Bashir Tangi, NA-24 Charsadda-II to Pir Aftab, NA-25 Nowshera-I to Khan Pervaiz, NA-26 Nowshera-II to Barrister Feroze Jamal, NA-28 Peshawar-II to Daud Burki, NA-30 Peshawar-IV to Arbab Alamgir, NA-32 Kohat to Pir Dilawar Shah, NA-34 Karak to Nawabzada Mohsin Ali Khan and NA-36 Lakki Marat to Inam Inqalabi.

Among other candidates are NA-38 DI Khan-I’s Faisal Karim Kundi, NA-39 DI Khan-II’s Auran Gandapur, NA-42 Mohmand’s Malik Israel, NA-43 Khyber-I’s Hazrat Wali Afridi, NA-44 Khyber–II’s Haji Sohail Afridi, NA-45 Kurram-I’s Dr Arif Hussain Turi , NA-46 Kurram-II’s Sajid Hussain Turi, NA-47 Orakzai Iqbal Hussain, NA-48 North Waziristan’s Malik Ghulam Wazir, NA-50 South Waziristan-II’s Amanullah Wazir and NA-51 FR-Areas Ikramullah Shah.
