Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Friday doled out tickets for the upcoming polls and, as expected, the announcement delighted some and disappointed others.

The distribution, which was the first of two phases, seemed to prioritise newcomers over die-hard workers and created a wave of resentment in the party. This was of course expected as the party has been on a massive induction drive of late, adding to its fold many and any disgruntled PML-N member it could find.

So while some were always going to be left out, no one saw it coming that the party would deny tickets even to established members such as ex-provincial minister KP Shaukat Yousufzai, ex-MNA Ali Mohammad Khan and Sheryar Afridi.

It may not be all over for the trio and they may still get accommodated in the second round of the distribution, but for now, these are worrying signs for those who got PTI to wherever it is.
