RAWALPINDI, May 28: The district government will provide Rs1.5 million to the literacy department for establishment of 26 more early childhood education centres in the city, Executive District Officer (Literacy) Prof Abdul Hamid Dar told Dawn on Saturday.

“At present, there are 13 centres which are not enough to accommodate the increasing number of children and meet the demands of the public,” he added.

According to the official, a room would be reserved in each government elementary school for setting up of the literacy centre accommodating up to 30 children aged 3 to 5 years. He said a teacher and a maid would be appointed in each centre to teach and take care of the children.
