OKARA, May 28: A landlord and his driver were shot dead over old enmity on their way to Dipalpur katchery on Saturday. Reports said Sardar Khushi Muhammad of Mujukey village was going to the court on his car driven by Muhammad Ali, when they were abducted by four unidentified armed men. The abductors allegedly shot both of them dead near BS link canal and fled.

It is learnt that the deceased had registered a report on May 18 with Basirpur police, stating that in case of an attempt on his life, Arif, Muhammad Ali, Sikander and five other men should be held responsible.

The police are investigating accordingly.

SHOT DEAD: A youth was shot dead and two others severely injured when a drunkard opened fire during a music programme arranged in connection with a marriage ceremony at 51/3R village.

Reports said a music programme was going on at the marriage ceremony of one Sajjad when drunkard Tariq Mehmood belonging to the same village came on to the stage insisting on a song of his likeness and started firing in the air. Meanwhile, a youth, Khizar Hayat, asked the accused to stop firing. The accused, instead, started firing at Khizar, killing him on the spot. Two other youths Imran Majid and Samiulllah sustained severe injuries in the firing and were admitted to a local hospital.
