PPP interviews KP poll candidates today

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Peoples Party on Monday announced parliamentary board for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to interview the aspiring poll candidates on Tuesday (today) and Wednesday.

Names of the candidates would be chosen from among three shortlisted candidates for each of the national and provincial assembly seats.

The parliamentary board has been authorised to finalise one of the three shortlisted names to be awarded ticket in consultation with the party’s top leadership, according to a statement issued here.

The Pakhtunkhwa parliamentary board will comprise PPP central general secretary Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, former senator Farhatullah Babar, KP president Mohammad Humayun Khan, general secretary Faisal Karim Kundi, former provincial presidents Rahim Dad Khan, Sardar Ali Khan, Syed Zahir Ali Shah, Barrister Masood Kausar, women wing president Nighat Orakzai, provincial vice president Akhunzada Chatan and former MNA Najamuddin Khan.

The candidates belonging to Peshawar will appear before the interview panel on Tuesday (today) from 11am to 1pm, Mardan from 1pm to 2pm, Hazara from 2pm to 4pm and Kohat division at 4pm. Similarly, the candidates belonging to Malakand division will appear before the parliamentary board on Wednesday from 11am to 1pm, Dera Ismail Khan from 1pm to 2pm, tribal regions’ candidates from 2pm to 4pm and those hailing from Bannu division at 4pm.

The candidates on reserved seats will also be interviewed on Wednesday evening.

The candidates have been advised to reach the residence of the PPP provincial President Mohammad Humayun Khan in Peshawar cantonment within the stipulated time so that the interviews could be completed on the specified dates to be forwarded to the top leadership for final approval.

A senior member of the parliamentary board told this correspondent that bundles of applications had been submitted from different divisions of the province.

It was learnt that majority of the applicants were seeking tickets also for other family members which would create differences in the party.
