PESHAWAR, May 26: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal Chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad has reiterated that agitation against the US would continue for its persistent onslaughts against the Ummah. Speaking on the foundation-stone laying ceremony of the district headquarters hospital in Nowshera on Thursday, he said MMA’s struggle against the imperialistic designs of the US was aimed at protecting the Muslims of its oppression throughout the world.

He said Washington had launched a smear campaign against the Ummah. He also criticized the desecration of the Holy Quran in the Guantanamo Bay. He argued that the Muslims across the globe were being dubbed terrorist by the US, while they were victims of terrorism in Palestine, Kashmir, Afghanistan and Iraq.

The MMA’s leader criticized President Gen Musharraf for siding with the US in the war on terrorism, alleging that the government was playing the role of puppet to prolong their illegitimate rule. However, he said the MMA would continue to expose the wrongdoings of the rulers and oppose the dictates of the US.

The MMA leader claimed that the people had awakened and were ready to foil any attempt aimed at the disrespect of their religious values. He asked the Ummah to stand up against US meddling in the internal affairs of the Muslim countries.

He dispelled the impression that his native district Nowshera was getting more funds than other areas. He said the fund allocation of the provincial government would indicate that his district had not received more funds.

He asked the provincial government to focus on the development of the far-flung and backward districts of the province so that the people could be provided with basic needs, such as health and education.
