SHO gets court notice for refusal to book Nawaz

LAHORE: A sessions court on Saturday issued a notice to Old Anarkali station house officer (SHO) on a petition seeking registration of a case against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over his recent statement about Mumbai attacks.

Advocate Sardar Aftab Ahmad had filed the petition, saying Sharif’s statement on the Mumbai attacks was damaging for the country. He alleged that the former premier had given the statement only to please the enemies of Pakistan and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi instead of rejecting the statement endorsed the same.

The petitioner asked the court to order the police to register a case against Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi under treason charges as the SHO concerned was reluctant to take action on his application submitted to this effect.

Additional District & Sessions Judge Saifullah Hanjra issued notice to Old Anarkali SHO and directed him to file his reply May 24.
