PESHAWAR, May 23: Social Welfare and Special Education Minister Zubaida Jalal said on Sunday that a national plan of action had been finalized for rehabilitation of special children. She was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the new building of the Mohammad Azam Khan Special Education Centre for Deaf in Charsadda.
The minister said allocations for children of special education institutions would be enhanced in the budget. She said that under the plan, special children would not only get education but also training in skills to enable them to lead an independent life.
Ms Jalal said scholarships would be awarded to the students of special education institutions from the Baitul Mal.
She called for public-private partnership to improve the conditions for special children.
She said a number of cities had been declared disabled-friendly, where arrangements had been made to facilitate work for them in all government institutions, including banks and hospitals.
