GUJRAT, May 23: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has urged the ruling party MPAs, Nazims and office-bearers to forge unity in their ranks to make a clean sweep in the upcoming local bodies elections. The chief minister said this while addressing a meeting of PML workers here on Monday. MNA Chaudhry Wajahat Husain, Punjab Education Minister Mian Imran Masood, District Nazim Chaudhry Shafaat Husain and Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister Naeem Raza were also present on the occasion.
The chief minister said that all out efforts should be made for the success of a membership campaign of the party. He said that party workers were the real asset and the enrolment process was being completed with their consultation.
He said that Rs900 million had already been released for the establishment of a university in Gujrat. He said the construction work would soon be taken in hand.
The government, he said, was taking some practical steps to improve the water supply, sewerage and sanitation systems in all cities of the province. Revolutionary changes were also being introduced in education, agriculture, communication and irrigation sectors.
Mr Elahi said the district government system had resulted in the rapid development of the country while problems of the people were effectively being solved at the local level.
