PESHAWAR, May 19: The Baacha Khan Trust has rejected allegations levelled against it by its chairperson Begum Nasim Wali Khan. In a press release issued here on Friday, Akbar Khan Durrani, the deputy director (administration) of the trust, described the allegations as “wild” and “baseless”.

Begum Nasim Wali on Wednesday had announced quitting the trust accusing its secretary of failing to play his assigned role. She had said that since its establishment in May 2004 the secretary had not convened a meeting of the board of trustees as a result of which the trust could not kick off its activities to fulfil its objectives.

In a rejoinder, the trust’s deputy director said: “It was very sad to note that instead of calling a meeting of the board of trustees and discussing the affairs of the trust at the proper forum, Begum Sahiba (Nasim Wali) has chosen to level wild and baseless allegations through the press.”

Mr Durrani, the trust’s spokesman, added: “Had there been an iota of truth in what she has said, the other members of the board of trustees would have supported her. It is very unfortunate that Begum Nasim has tried to damage the sanctity and credibility of the Baacha Khan Trust and malign it as part of her political vendetta.”
