HYDERABAD, May 19: The secretary for Sindh forest and wildlife on Thursday said annual confidential reports of Bashir Ahmad Nizamani had been found tempered with. In a clarification to Dawn’s report of April 16, the secretary said Mr Nizamani’s score had been increased to 74.56 from 62.22 for his promotion from grade 19 to 20 as the chief conservator of forests.

He said in the working paper regarding six senior-most conservators of forest for consideration for promotion before the Provincial Selection Board, the quantification score of Mr Nizamani had been shown as 62.22 against the required 70 on Sept 2, 2002.

He said that in anticipation of retirement of an officer on March 5, 2004, another working paper had been sent on Feb 7, 2004, for promotion of three senior-most conservators wherein the quantification score of Mr Nizamani had been shown as 74.56.

He said the increase in score from 62.22 to 74.56 just in one year was pointed out to the administrative department which verified Mr Nizamani’s ACRs and found that his ACRs for five years (1998 to 2002) had been tampered with.

NIZAMANI: When contacted by Dawn, Mr Nizamani said the secretary had ignored the fact that the first working paper was sent in 2002 in which ACRs up to 2000 were considered whereas in the 2004 working paper, his three outstanding ACRs (2001 to 2003) were counted.

He said the services, general administration and coordination department had noted as to why his score had been reduced from 74.56 to 68.28 in the working paper of Sept 27, 2004.
