ISLAMABAD, May 19: The Privatization Commission has received seven expressions of interest (EoIs) from the interested parties to participate in the bidding for purchase of the land at Badami Bagh, Lahore, owned by Pakistan Engineering Company Limited (PECO), (Badami Bagh Works), Lahore, on an “as-is-where-is” basis.

The bidders who have submitted the EoIs include: Al-Hamza Ship Breaking Company and Group, Karachi; Bara Ghee Mills, Peshawar; Crescent Standard Group, Karachi; Kohinoor Iron and Steel Traders, Lahore; Kohinoor Oil Mills Ltd, Lahore; Seatrade Group, Karachi; and Sukh Chayn Gardens (Pvt) Ltd, Rawalpindi.

The Privatization Commission invited the EoIs last month. After the prequalification of the prospective bidders a pre-bid conference will be held to facilitate a better understanding of the transaction, bidding process and to respond to the queries of the bidders at the Privatization Commission, Islamabad, immediately after the receipt of EoIs.

The PECO Badami Bagh land is situated in south of the Lahore railway station and in north of the Badami Bagh railway station. This is a commercial area, accessible by roads and railway siding.

The site is ideally located in the heart of thriving steel market of Badami Bagh, essentially a single commodity market of mainly steel and steel related business. This site is also in the vicinity of Badami Bagh timber market.
