TOBA TEK SINGH, May 18: Pakistan Hockey Federation Secretary Musarratullah Khan has said the PHF is trying to send national team former goal-keeper Muhammad Qasim to the US for his cancer treatment. Talking to journalists, he said an estimated $100,000 were required for the former player’s treatment and the PHF and the Pakistan Sports Trust would jointly bear it.
Meanwhile, Qasim, who belongs to Gojra, said doctors had warned that in case his operation was delayed for one month it would be dangerous for his life.
He said more than a month had already passed and now any further delay in provision of funds would prove costly. He urged the officials concerned to release funds at the earliest.
It is learnt that Pakistan cricket team captain Inzamamul Haq had recently contributed Rs250,000 for Qasim’s treatment.
