PESHAWAR, May 18: The government has taken various measures for eradication of poverty and to bring thousands of acres of barren lands under cultivation in tribal areas. Briefing journalists at his office in Wana, XEN Irrigation South Waziristan Pir Muhammad Yusaf Shah said Rs88.90 million had been earmarked for Irrigation in the current annual development programme (ADP) besides allocations for construction of three small dams.

He said construction on Dargai Paal Dam in Tehsil Wana would start soon.

The dam, he said, would be completed at a cost of Rs53.29 million and would have a capacity to irrigate 1200 acres. Choutangi Dam would cost Rs119.145m and would irrigate 1300 acres in the area.—APP
