KABUL, May 18: Unidentified men ambushed a vehicle and killed five Afghan reconstruction workers in southeastern Afghanistan on Wednesday. The three engineers, their driver and a police guard were killed in Grishk district in the troubled southeastern province of Helmand, provincial spokesman Mohammad Wali said.
“The enemies of Afghanistan killed five people — three Afghans, their driver and one police who was their security guard,” Mr Wali said, blaming remnants of the Taliban for the attack. The victims were working for the US-based company Chemonics, which has irrigation projects in Helmand.—AFP
