KARACHI, May 18: Five ships carrying chemicals, rock phosphate and containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources. Berthing activity at the wharves was active where six vessels — Hengseduo, Kota Wijaya, Sinar Bontang, APL Jeddah to unload and load containers, Nur Yanbu to offload chemicals and Jaisier to load cement, were berthed after the departure of eight.
The ships, which departed included Hangseduo, PONL Ver Cruz, Thor Capitan, Dong He, Annegret, Scan Arctic, Shalamar and Andino Park, while Yuan Pingsea, Sargodha, APL Jeddah, Kota Wijaya, Nur Yanbu, Maersk Alaska and Hyundai Future are due to sail out on Thursday.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves was relatively slow where a total tonnage handled fell to 54,956 tons comprising 8,820 tons of export cargo, including 1,911 and 1,125 tons of rice and cement, respectively, and 46,136 tons of import cargo. The following ships are due on Thursday: Chem Lily, with chemicals, Orient Prosperity, APL Orchid, Harmony, with containers and Marblue, with 25,150 tons of rock phosphate.
