VC’s office ransacked by students

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, May 16: Students of the Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan on Monday set ablaze three vehicles and ransacked the office of the vice-chancellor and the administration block during a protest demonstration against the killing of a college student. Asif Ali Shah, a student of the University Wensam College, was allegedly shot dead by a security guard, Shaista Khan, on Sunday night.

Hundreds of students, who had gathered at the campus on Monday morning to protest against the killing, turned violent during a demonstration and ransacked the VC office and the administration block.

They also chanted slogans against the university administration. Later, the students reached the university’s guesthouse and torched three vehicles, including a coaster and the car of the registrar.

The protesting students dispersed after police arrived. However, no arrest has been made till the filing of this report.
