NAB approves corruption inquiries

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, has approved inquiries against officials of various government departments for embezzling millions of rupees.

According to a statement issued here on Sunday, the inquiries were authorised by NAB’s regional board meeting held here with Director General NAB (KP) Farmanullah Khan in the chair.

The board authorised inquiry against employees of directorate of health services, Fata, and others regarding corruption and corrupt practices.

The accused are stated to have allegedly embezzled funds worth millions of rupees in polio vaccination projects in Fata.

Similarly, another inquiry was authorised against Irshad Mohammad Khan, senior engineer Cantonment Board Peshawar, for accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income. The accused allegedly owned properties in Pakistan and abroad.

The Bureau also authorised inquiry against officials of revenue department Malakand regarding corruption and misuse of authority.

The accused persons allegedly misused authority by not willfully collecting rent since 1995 from lessees of evacuee property of federal government measuring 2,042 kanals of agriculture land in Dargai tehsil of Malakand district.

The NAB also authorised inquiry against employees of Fata Secretariat and others regarding embezzlement of funds in multiple projects in FR Bannu.
