36 PTCL men face corruption inquiry

GUJRANWALA, May 15: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) authority initiated an inquiry against 36 officials involved in alleged corruption here on Saturday. Reports said that officials accused of corruption were deployed at accounts offices and telephone exchanges in the region. Senior PTCL officers received a number of complaints from subscribers against the alleged corruption of these officials.

A source gave out that two assistant engineers, around a dozen linemen, six telephone operators, seven technicians and some other staff were involved in the crime.

When contacted, a senior officer confirmed that show-cause notices were also issued to these officials.

He further said that they would be removed from their service if they were found guilty in an inquiry.

COMMITS SUICIDE: A woman, the mother of half a dozen children, committed suicide by taking poison over some domestic issue in Cantonment area here on Sunday.

Khalida Perveen swallowed poisonous pills after quarrelling with her husband Ghulam Nabi. She was rushed to the DHQ Hospital where she died. Her body was handed over to heirs.
