Sand collection in Shangla banned

SHANGLA: The Puran tehsil administration on Friday banned collection of sand in Martung area.

A press release issued by the district administration here on Friday said assistant commissioner Zamin Khan accompanied by assistant director mines and minerals department jointly carried out raids in Martung and stopped illegal excavation of sand.

It said the administration had warned the people involved in the illegal business to avoid such practice, otherwise the violators would be put behind bars.

AC Zamin Khan said he had asked the officials of mines and minerals department to hold auction for sand extraction as per the rules.

Meanwhile, Zamin Khan also visited Towa Bazaar in Puran on Friday and checked cleanliness in hotels and shops. He fined several shopkeepers for not keeping their outlets clean. He asked the traders to prominently display price list and ensure cleanliness.

DENGUE AWARENESS: Focal person for dengue control Kamal Zada said on Friday that all the stakeholders and leaders of rapid response teams had been trained to carry out a survey in the district, especially in the red and yellow zones, to prevent the outbreak of the vector-borne disease in the coming summer.

He said the trainings were given at a meeting on Friday chaired by district health officer Mohammad Riaz. He said the survey would be carried out across the district soon.

He said Bisham tehsil areas along the Indus River had been declared red and yellow zones, after the dengue outbreak in 2013, where they would hold dengue awareness activities.
